I love my Jupiter Orange bike. I think it is the most astounding color ever developed for Honda. If I buy another 01-10 1800, I?ll swap my body onto it, as I have already done before.Hit a deer at 70mph this summer. Blew most of the front plastic off my 2003 Jupiter Orange: both cowls, rad louvers, fender, fairing ridge molding, shelter, and other stuff (beside both stays ?A? & ?B?, pipes, both headlights, and lots of other little and not so little things). I thought the garnish made it through when I inspected the bike, (as did my V-Stream windshield) and did the take-off for the insurance company. I went shopping for body parts to replace the damaged ones, and many are just not available, worldwide, and I have some really good contacts after 22 years specializing in GW?s). Found the shelter brand new, paid an arm and a leg for it. Found new cowl halves, also an arm and a leg (call me ?Phil?). No louvers, no garnish, no fairing moldings available anywhere. Found a complete ?03 Jupiter Orange bike 1000 miles away, with decent plastic, and bought it so I had the 5 pieces I couldn?t find new. Removing the plastic for the rebuild, I found that the garnish had a crack in it that I hadn?t noticed, and the left tab where it mounts by the mirror was cracked. I used the garnish from the bike I had bought for the rebuild, set the slightly damaged one aside. This is it. I have no need for it, I know there are other Jupiter Orange nuts out there, so here it is, four hours of putzing later. The crack was reinforced, and you really have to be close and inspect to notice it. The tab was repaired with wire reinforcing. It was test-placed on the bike to be certain of the fit.As you can see in the in-set pic, the crack (in the area circled) is nearly invisible. This is huge, so the shipping (especially fuel charges) is high: the price reflects that fact appropriately, and I?m not even getting my 4 hours back out of it. It hasn?t had its final polish-out, which can be done easier after placement, but it does look pretty darned good, and if I hadn?t got luck with the other bike, this garnish would still be on mine. It?s not perfect, but it?s certainly better than riding a beautiful bike with a totalled garnish. The price is right.
